HRA of New Britain Endowment Fund

The mission of HRA is to improve the quality of life by helping people achieve economic and social potential; responding to the causes and conditions of poverty; and building stronger individuals, families and communities in the greater New Britain area.  HRA administers over 30 programs including Head Start, School Readiness, Toddler Day Care and Pre-school for children ages 18 mos. to 5 years; Case Management; Perlas Hispanas and Senior Recreation; Polish Victim Advocacy and Outreach; Energy Assistance; Eviction and Mediation Services; Employment and Training; and Wellness Resource Center – supportive services for people living with HIV/AIDS.

HRA created a state of the art Early Childhood Education Facility for children ages 18 mos. – 5 years, impacting over 600 families each year. The Connecticut Housing and Education Finance Authority (CHEFA), and Connecticut Department of Social Services loan package supporting this project were the first dollars invested in New Britain for preschool, the largest commitment for preschool by CHEFA.
