Foundation Welcomes New Board Members

New Britain, Conn., February 1, 2021– The Community Foundation of Greater New Britain has elected two new board members to join the Foundation’s already-strong team of volunteers. Elected to serve new multi-year board terms were Janis Jerman and William Ostapchuk.

Janis Jerman currently serves as a Strategic Advisor. She was formerly the Human Chief Compliance and Communications Officer for Employee Family Protection, Inc. of Glastonbury. A New Britain native, Janis has been a long-term supporter and friend of the Foundation serving both on the Audit Committee, and as an active member of the Catalyst Giving Circle. Janis serves on the Board of Directors for Partners for Andean Community Health as well as New Britain Emergency Medical Services, and is an active Rotarian. In the past, she has served on the Board of Directors for CW Resources and the Impact Team of the United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut.

William Ostapchuk began his teaching career as a history teacher at Slade Middle School. After a graduate program of study at the University of Maine, Orono, he returned to New Britain as a history teacher at the newly opened high school building on Mill Street. He was selected as principal of Roosevelt Middle School and then of Slade Middle School before assuming responsibility as District Coordinator for Social Studies and Adult Education. William is also a New Britain native and attended New Britain High School and Central Connecticut State College.

The two new board members will be officially welcomed at the first board meeting in April while retiring members, Marc Pelletier and Ed Kindelan were thanked for their service at the final 2020 meeting in December.
