Foundation Announces New Fund Named for Lifelong Resident

June 11, 2021 (New Britain, Conn.) – The Community Foundation of Greater New Britain is proud to announce their newly establish designated fund, the Julian R. Judge, Sr. Memorial Fund.

Julian R. Judge, Sr. was a life-long resident of the City of New Britain, who grew up to be a successful entrepreneur. Julian started J&J Landscaping LLC and grew it to be a locally renowned company. Julian donated his time, money, and considerable talent to helping other aspiring local entrepreneurs to start their own companies.

Julian was also well known for hosting a “Father’s Day Fish Fry” annually. Julian was an entrepreneur, a friend and a giver, but above all of these things he was a loving father and husband. To ensure that Julian’s legacy lives on, his family has continued to host the annual Father’s Day Fish Fry in his honor which will now be used to raise funds annually towards the fund in Julian’s memory.

This year, the Father’s Day Fish Fry will take place Saturday, June 19, from 12pm-6pm at A.W. Stanley Park (2159 Stanley Street, New Britain). For $10, you can enjoy a tasty fish meal with a side and a drink, all while benefitting students in the New Britain community.

The designated fund will benefit the Foundation’s Degree Completion Initiative, designed to help college juniors and seniors who are facing financial pressures that make it difficult or impossible for them to continue in their education and complete their degrees. The CFGNB has partnered with CCSU to provide financial assistance to those in the latter part of their education with good college standing and demonstrated need.
