Financial Assistance Available for 2016 Community Events

Application Deadline for Community Sponsorship Award Funding is Nov. 1

New Britain, Conn., October 7, 2015 – The Community Foundation of Greater New Britain is again making available financial assistance to non-profit groups and organizations planning community events in Berlin, New Britain, Plainville and Southington, this time for events taking place between January 1 and June 30, 2016 – but the application deadline is quickly approaching.

The deadline to apply for the next round of the Community Foundation’s Community Sponsorship Awards is November 1.

Over the past two years the program has provided $15,000 in critical funding through small financial awards to more than 20 organizations conducting events that celebrate and promote children and families, arts, culture and heritage, education and civic engagement. Among the groups and events to have received assistance are the Southington Education Foundation’s Fan of the Foundation event, the New Britain-Berlin YMCA’s Tinsel Fun Run, the New Britain Downtown Halloween Trick or Treat Safe Zone, the Dozynki Harvest Festival in New Britain, Community Mental Health Affiliates’ 5K Run for Recovery, Wheeler Regional Family Clinic’s 5th Annual Nevratri Dance, and the Plainville Wind Ensemble’s 2015 Spring Concert.

Community Sponsorship Awards are available to 501(c)(3) organizations conducting community special events in the Foundation’s four-town service area during the specified time period. Requests should not exceed $750. However, the Community Foundation may elect to consider awards larger than $750 at its discretion. Awards are limited to one award per organization or event per year. Awards will not be made to support golf tournaments or annual meetings.
