New Britain, Conn. June 26, 2023 – The New Britain Bees celebrated Community Foundation of Greater New Britain night at the ballpark on Saturday and the Community Foundation took the opportunity to hold a special Scholarship Celebration during the game for its 2023 scholarship award recipients, families, and the donors who helped establish those awards.

The Community Foundation is awarding eighty-five different scholarships this year that amount to just over $330,000 in educational assistance, an amount that has increased by more than $100,000 in the last five years due to more families and organizations establishing scholarships and prudent investment by the Foundation.

Close to 100 invited guests attended the event on Saturday, which featured local photographer John Atashian taking photos of the guests in front of a new CFGNB logo backdrop. Staff also helped match up donors with the scholarship recipients for their particular award when possible, food and drinks were served, and everyone had a chance to watch a great game of baseball on what turned out to be a great weather night.

New Britain defeated the Brockton Rox by a score of 9-0, which delighted the crowd, and before the game started, local realtor, member of the Community Foundation Board of Directors and chair of the Foundation Scholarship committee, Nina Jankowski, threw out the ceremonial first pitch.

Established in 1941, the Community Foundation of Greater New Britain is “Where Good Begins” in Berlin, New Britain, Plainville and Southington. The Foundation works to inspire philanthropy, responsibly manage permanent charitable assets, and partner to address key community issues through strategic leadership.
