Community Foundation Awards More Than $190,000 in Scholarships
New Britain, Conn., August 11, 2016 – The Community Foundation of Greater New Britain has awarded $190,600 in scholarships through a variety of scholarship funds it manages to some 66 students from the area, helping them pursue and/or complete studies at colleges and universities locally and beyond.

The awards came from 43 of the Foundation’s named scholarship funds, established by individual donors. The vast majority of scholarships were awarded to students from the four communities comprising the Foundation’s service area (Berlin, New Britain, Plainville and Southington) while several additional scholarships, based on donor-established criteria, were awarded to students from other towns.
The honored students will attend a wide variety of colleges and universities in Connecticut and beyond, among them Yale University, the University of Connecticut (UConn), the University of Hartford, Central Connecticut State University (CCSU), Eastern Connecticut State University (ECSU), Southern Connecticut State University (SCSU), Western Connecticut State University (WCSU), Sacred Heart University, Quinnipiac University and Tunxis Community College in Connecticut, as well as additional schools including Boston College, Bryant University, Tufts University, Wheaton College and more.
