CFGNB and Hospital for Special Care Celebrate 80 Years of Outstanding Partnership

(New Britain, CT – November 1, 2021) Throughout 2021, the Community Foundation of Greater New Britain (CFGNB) and the Hospital for Special Care (HFSC) have both been celebrating 80 years of service to the community. The CFGNB and HFSC have had an outstanding partnership over the years. The Foundation has invested in the hospital’s growth to meet community needs such as in HFSC’s outpatient expansion by launching challenge grants to get the campaign underway. The Foundation was also a substantial supporter of the hospital’s most recent capital campaign to expand access to autism services.

To celebrate their partnership, the CFGNB recognition plaque in the outpatient lobby was recently relocated to accommodate the addition of an art installation titled “In a Still Moment…Imagine”. The installation, commissioned by a patient with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis and his wife, was designed to bring a moment of reflection and beauty to patients who may be experiencing difficult times.

“The Foundation’s willingness to collaborate with us to make this donation of art possible represents yet another way CFGNB rebuilds lives at HFSC by prioritizing patient needs and experience,” said Wendy DeAngelo, HFSC Vice President, Development and Communications.

Established in 1941, the Community Foundation of Greater New Britain is “Where Good Begins” in Berlin, New Britain, Plainville and Southington. The Foundation works to inspire philanthropy, responsibly manage permanent charitable assets, and partner to address key community issues through strategic leadership.
