The Connecticut League of Conservation Voters
Agency Endowment Fund
On October 7, 2025, the Connecticut League of Conservation Voters (CTLCV) established an Agency Endowment Fund with the Community Foundation of Greater New Britain (CFGNB). This permanent fund creates a reliable, long-term source of support for CTLCV’s work protecting Connecticut’s air, water, land, and communities.
What is an Agency Endowment Fund
An Agency Endowment Fund is a permanent pool of capital held by CFGNB that is specifically designated to benefit a charitable organization, in this case, CTLCV. The principal is preserved in perpetuity and invested; each year a portion of the fund’s return is distributed to the organization to support its programs and operations.
An Agency Endowment:
- Provides long-term financial stability, smoothing out yearly fundraising ups and downs.
- Creates predictable income for program planning and staffing.
- Protects the organization’s legacy by ensuring gifts continue to generate impact for generations.
By partnering with CFGNB to steward this endowment, CTLCV locks in a source of support that will help sustain its mission well into the future. Learn More!
The Connecticut League of Conservation Voters (CTLCV) is a non-partisan, statewide nonprofit dedicated to protecting Connecticut’s environment by making it a priority for our elected leaders. Through legislative tracking, candidate endorsements, and public accountability, CTLCV ensures that environmental issues remain at the forefront of state policy decisions.
CTLCV’s Work and Impact
CTLCV has been busy on many fronts. Highlights that show the types of work this endowment will help sustain include:
Environmental Scorecard
CTLCV publishes its annual Environmental Scorecard, evaluating state legislators’ votes on critical environmental issues. This helps voters hold lawmakers accountable and ensures environmental priorities stay visible in state policy decisions.
Advocacy for Climate Legislation
CTLCV actively supports climate and sustainability legislation in Connecticut, promoting policies that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and protect natural resources for future generations.
Community Engagement and Events
Through events like “Sip & Celebrate Climate Action,” CTLCV fosters conversations between community members and policymakers, encouraging civic participation and environmental awareness.
Federal Environmental Advocacy
CTLCV submits public comments to federal agencies, such as the Environmental Protection Agency, advocating for strong protections against air pollution and for policies that safeguard public health.
Celebrating Environmental Leadership
CTLCV recognizes individuals making significant contributions to conservation and sustainability through awards and public recognition, highlighting leadership that inspires action across the state.
Supporting Pro-Environment Candidates
The organization endorses and engages with candidates who prioritize clean energy, environmental justice, and sustainable policy, helping to elect leaders committed to protecting Connecticut’s environment.
These examples represent the kinds of programs and policy work that the new CFGNB endowment will help support, ensuring CTLCV can continue educating voters, strengthening coalitions, and advocating for a healthier, fairer Connecticut.
