First Years First
We believe that preparing the children of Berlin, New Britain, Plainville and Southington for success in school and in life by enhancing their early childhood development education experience is fundamental to any meaningful expression of the Foundation’s mission.
- Coalition for New Britain’s Youth, $60,000
from the First Years First Fund for 2015 support of the Coalition’s work in New Britain which focuses on improving the lives of children and youth, birth through age twenty-four. - Consolidated School District of New Britain, $38,000
for second year funding to maintain three part-time educators to deliver the Parents as Teachers (PAT) programs to fifteen high-risk families. - Early Childhood Collaborative of Southington, $30,000
to support staffing, infrastructure, and expenses associated with the implementation of the Community Plan for Southington’s Young Children, aimed at fulfilling the ECCS mission that Southington children enter kindergarten ready to learn. - Early Childhood Funders Collaborative, $7,500
from the First Years First Fund to support it’s work with the Office of Early Childhood to create a coordinated system of early care, education, and child development in Connecticut. - Family Resource Center of Southington, up to $36,000
from the First Years First Fund to support the Family Resource Center in Southington (FRCS), including an expansion of services to reach more children and families. - Literacy Volunteers of Central Connecticut, $30,000
from the First Years First Fund to support the Central Connecticut Family Literacy Center which provides high-quality literacy programming for low literate parents so they can support their children’s success in school, make progress towards their goals and improve self-sufficiency. - Plainville Community Schools (PCS), $2,929
from the First Years First capacity-building curriculum enhancement grant to support the District’s expanded Pre-Kindergarten program for four year olds during the 2015-2016 school year. - Plainville Family Resource Center, $10,000
as a bridge grant to full funding from the Plainville School District in order to maintain year round staffing and programming at the PFRC. - Tunxis Community College, Early Childhood Professional Educators’ Consortium, $10,000
to continue to provide high quality professional development workshops to early childhood educators. - Words and Numbers, $1,650
from the First Years First Fund to support technical support to the CFGNB for it’s work on the First Years First Initiative. - YWCA of New Britain, in partnership with Wheeler Clinic, up to $25,000
from the First Years First Fund for one-time capital and equipment costs associated with a new Trauma Informed Childcare program that will provide therapeutic child care for high-risk, high-need children involved with the Department of Children and Families.
