Sarra Halloran Family Scholarship Fund

Following a thirty-year career in education within the New Britain School District, a career that included service as Superintendent of the New Britain Schools, Nancy Sarra established this scholarship in the name of her family to honor the students, staff, and teachers of the District and to enable recipients to attend an accredited college or university or an accredited certification program.

One or more scholarship(s) per year shall be awarded to candidates who meet the following eligibility criteria:
• Students must be graduating seniors or previous graduates of New Britain High School who are experiencing obstacles in their life that make attending higher education more difficult. These obstacles may be, but are not limited to, being a single parent, caring for other family member’s children, or caring for older family members.
• Students must display financial need.

Graduating seniors who are awarded the scholarship for their freshman year are eligible to reapply for a second award in their sophomore year, and subsequent years of college as long as they are a student in good-standing at the institution where coursework is being pursued and have maintained an average of C+ or better in their first year of college.
