CFGNB Opens 2025 Catalyst Fund Grant Application
New Britain, CT — The Community Foundation of Greater New Britain (CFGNB) is now accepting applications for the 2025 Catalyst Fund grant. One grant of up to $20,000 will be awarded this November to support a project that addresses the needs of unhoused populations in Berlin, New Britain, Plainville, and Southington.
Catalyst is a giving circle of community leaders dedicated to strengthening the quality of life in the Foundation’s four-town service area. Each year, Catalyst members select a focus area and award a grant to a nonprofit organization working to make a meaningful impact. This year’s focus is on supporting individuals experiencing homelessness, particularly those without access to stable or adequate shelter.
The 2025 Catalyst season officially began with a kickoff meeting on June 25, where members gathered to learn about the challenges facing unhoused individuals and the strategies being used to address them. The next Catalyst meeting, scheduled for September 17, will feature presentations from selected grant applicants.
The Foundation invites proposals that present a proven or promising prevention or intervention strategy. Projects may include rehousing efforts, eviction prevention, landlord engagement, shelter expansion, or outreach services. Proposals should demonstrate measurable outcomes within six to twelve months and may include collaborations with other nonprofits, municipalities, housing authorities, or public health providers.
Eligible applicants must be community-based 501(c)(3) organizations. Receiving a Catalyst Fund grant does not preclude an organization from applying for or receiving funding through other CFGNB initiatives or the Community Response Grant process.
Applications must be submitted by email to Joeline Wruck, Director of Community Grants & Initiatives, jwruck@cfgnb.org, and no later than Friday, August 15, 2025. Finalists may be invited to present their proposal at the September 17 Catalyst Fund meeting, and the grant recipient will be announced in November 2025.
