Community Foundation’s Ann Bova Earns Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy® Designation
CAP® Training Provides Advanced Tools to Help Donors
New Britain, Conn., November 16, 2016 – Community Foundation of Greater New Britain Senior Philanthropic Advisor Ann Bova has earned the Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy® (CAP®) professional designation from the Richard D. Irwin Graduate School of The American College, Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. The achievement provides Bova and the Community Foundation with advanced tools and knowledge to assist 
donors in managing their wealth, planning their estates and reaching their charitable giving goals.
Candidates for the CAP® designation must complete a minimum of three courses in philanthropic studies at the Irwin Graduate School and six hours of rigorous, supervised written examinations. The curriculum addresses the advanced design, implementation and management of charitable gift techniques and strategies, as well as philanthropic tools including charitable trusts, private foundations, supporting organizations, donor-advised funds, pooled income funds and charitable gift annuities.
Bova joins a distinguished group of some 800-plus individuals nationwide who have been awarded the CAP® designation and are uniquely qualified to help donors improve their communities by maximizing the effective application of their financial resources.

Bova has more than 40 years of experience in the non-profit arena. Since joining the Community Foundation in 2004, she has been responsible for all donor relations and outreach, fund development and management of the Foundation’s Civic Leadership Fund Annual Appeal. She has played a vital role in helping Foundation donors meet their charitable giving goals, adding multiple new funds to the Foundation’s portfolio and boosting the Foundation’s endowment to more than $40 million.
Ann began her career in 1974 as one of six nationally selected interns for the United Way of America, where she served at chapters in Cleveland, Norfolk, Memphis and her hometown of New Britain. She has also held management-level positions with the Visiting Nurse Association of Central Connecticut, Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation and New Britain Symphony. She holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Central Connecticut State University and a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Hartford.
