David J. Obedzinski

Hartford native David Obedzinski assumed the role of president of the Community Foundation of Greater New Britain in August, 2017, bringing with him more than 30 years of management experience in philanthropy, development and donor relations. A long-time Glastonbury resident, David has a deep affection for, understanding of and relationship with the Greater New Britain community, having worked for nearly seven years as the Hospital of Central Connecticut’s chief development officer and executive director of institutional advancement. He also brings to his position significant experience working with the Community Foundation, having served in 2013 and 2014 along with his wife, Linda, and daughter, Kate, as a tri-chair of the Foundation’s Catalyst Fund. Immediately prior to joining the Foundation, David was vice president of philanthropy for the U.S. Coast Guard Academy Alumni Association; he has also held management positions with Baystate Health Foundation, Southern Connecticut State University, the Easter Seal Society of Connecticut, the University of Hartford and Hofstra University (his alma mater). As the Foundation’s chief professional officer and principal community representative, David leads a team of dedicated staff and works closely with our board of directors, assisting them in implementing CFGNB’s Strategic Plan, working to increase support from the communities the Foundation serves and making a positive and lasting impact in those very same towns.

Ann joined the Foundation in April, 2004. She works with current and prospective donors to help them identify and carry out their charitable goals. She also cultivates and maintains relationships with attorneys, accountants, wealth advisors and other professional advisors so as to assist their clients with charitable gift planning. A New Britain native, Ann brings to her position 40 years of development and nonprofit professional experience, including United Ways in Ohio, Virginia, Tennessee and Connecticut, the former Visiting Nurse Association of Central CT and other nonprofits. Her education includes a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Central Connecticut State University and a master of public administration from the University of Hartford.

Kimberly joined the foundation in April, 2015 as a recent graduate of Central Connecticut State University. Her responsibilities include providing a wide range of administrative, clerical, and operational support to all staff in order to help facilitate the philanthropic mission of the Foundation.

Kaylah joined the Foundation in March, 2013 and was promoted to her current title in 2014. Kaylah is responsible for all Community Response grantmaking, management of the Foundation’s Scholarship Program, and assists with the Catalyst Fund. She also provides grantmaking support to the Community Chest of New Britain and Berlin, a supporting organization of the Community Foundation. Kaylah is a graduate of Central Connecticut State University, where she worked in the Dean’s Office of the Ammon School of Arts and Sciences and with the CCSU Alumni Association.

Bob joined the Foundation in September 2011 after nearly 20 years of executive level financial management at St. Vincent’s Health Services, Bridgeport, Connecticut. While there, he was the CFO for several of their affiliated corporations with both financial and operational duties, overseeing budgets of over $20 million annually. At the Foundation, Bob assumes responsibility for the Foundation’s Endowment, together with overseeing day-to-day operations and programs. He works with the Board and several committees to support the mission of the organization. Bob’s educational achievements include a B.S. Accounting, M.B.A. Finance and a Jurist Doctorate degree.

Chris joined the Foundation in November 2004 and oversees the financial administration of the organization. She is the principal communicator for financial matters and staffs the Audit and Finance and Investment Committees. Chris works with all agencies and donors to provide financial reports and other fund accounting information. She is a graduate of Keene State College, Keene, New Hampshire.

Joeline joined the Foundation in November 1997 as Director of Program, responsible for managing managing the Foundation’s comprehensive grant program. In 2014, she was promoted to Director of Community Initiatives, responsible for leading the effort to research and identify new issues and roles for the Foundation within its service area. This new position will prove key to the Board of Directors’ current review of the Community Foundation’s strategic agenda, and in ultimately carrying out that agenda. Joeline is also responsible for managing the Foundation’s First Year’s First Early Childhood Initiative and serves on the Blueprint Leadership Team for Coalition for New Britain’s Youth. She provides expertise and support to the Foundation’s Catalyst Fund and the Community Initiatives Committee.
